I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the students at Barton Hills. I was able to tell them several things about myself and they were able to share information about themselves and their families.
I feel very welcome here! Over the past few weeks we will went over Kelso's Choices and other ways to solve problems between classmates and siblings. The 4th grade has been practicing skits to demonstrate Kelso's Choices for the younger grades. Ask your child what the difference is between a small problem and a big problem. In October, we covered Stranger Danger in grades K-3. We also went over Safe Touch and who to go to if you feel uncomfortable. The upper grades had guidance lessons on bullying and cliques. I will continue to update my blog as we cover new material. Thanks for visiting. During the first weeks of school, I will be visiting each classroom to introduce myself and talk about the role of a school counselor. I will also meet with the sixth graders to begin planning our NO PLACE for HATE activities. I am excited to meet everyone on campus, and I am looking forward to a great school year.
